Stephen M. Stewart, President
Stephen Stewart is the Chief Information Officer at Henry County Health Center. At the hospital he also services as the Compliance Officer, as well as the Security Officer.

Prior to joining the Hospital in 2008, he spent over 29 years in Health IT. Serving primarily as the CIO and or COO of Revenue Cycle firms, Stewart has directed man it initiatives for both for profit and not for profit sectors. His IT career has focused heavily on applications, both from a design and implementation perspective.

He is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a Bachelor in Business Administration in Marketing, Accounting and Economics with a Masters of Business Administration, also from the University of Iowa, focusing on finance. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, and a Certified Professional in Health Information and Management Systems from HIMSS. He has authored numerous articles published several prominent periodicals, and has been a frequent speaker on IT and Revenue Cycle topics, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance and governance.

T. Paul Rohrer, President Elect
Paul is a Project Manager at Iowa Health System, where he focuses on the technical, clinical, financial, integration and conversion projects related to the ambulatory EHR system. He has also worked on mobile device solution and networking projects. Prior to joining Iowa Health System in 2010, Paul was at Saint Luke's Health System in Kansas City.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration from Drake University, and a Master of Health Services Administration from the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is a member of HIMSS, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Project Management Institute.

Originally from Lake Quivira, KS, Paul now lives with his wife and son in Des Moines, IA.






Erin Fitzsimmons, Secretary
Erin Fitzsimmons is a graduate student of the University of Iowa Interdisciplinary Informatics Program, specifically Health Informatics. She has an MBA from San Jose State University and a BS in Computer Science from The University of Iowa. She has held P&L responsibilities; and she has provided professional and consulting services for clients such as Wellpoint affiliated health plans, Amgen Pharmaceuticals, Extendicare Health Services (EHSI) LTC senior care facilities, and State Department of Human Services (DHS). Erin has returned to college to continue her studies in healthcare and analytics. Most recently, she was a Project Manager with IBM Global Technology Delivery Services, previous to that, she was an independent project manager in the Milwaukee area implementing reporting solutions. Erin's background also includes engineering management positions in the Telecom industry; at MCI/Worldcom.



Bonnie Rosa-Mosena, Treasurer
Bonnie Rosa-Mosena holds a BS in Business Administration and is currently Pursuing Masters in Financial Accounting. Bonnie is a Proposal Development Manager with IFMC (Iowa Foundation for Medical Care). This position looks at best practices, process improvement, and ways to increase their win percentage.

Previous position was with Software Engineering Services (SES) as their Director of State Government Solutions & Programs. In that role I was responsible for managing their Iowa branch office, the proposal selection and production of all State, Local, County, and University proposals, account management for all State Government accounts, and development and management of their IT Apprenticeship and ITCE (IT Center of Excellence) IT Training College.   Was very actively involved in development of HIE/HIT initiatives and SES’s main focus was on healthcare related opportunities. Former positions have been as a CFO, Director of Human Resources, VP of Platform Development and Alternative Delivery Channels (Wells Fargo), and Director of Information Technology. 

Bonnie is married to Steve Mosena, Chief Security Officer for the State of Iowa. They have five children and thirteen grandchildren.



Joseph Wagner, Vice Treasurer
Joseph Wagner is the Director of Administrative Applications at University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City, Iowa. UI Health Care is a fully integrated academic medical center that includes University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and University of Iowa Physicians. It has been recognized as a HIMSS Analytics Stage 6 facility and achieved Hospitals & Health Networks' Most Wired Status in 2010 and 2011.

In his role, Joseph is responsible for the implementation and support of non-clinical applications serving the health care system. These systems include patient registration, scheduling, hospital and physician revenue cycle, financial management, supply chain, human resources, data warehousing, decision support and systems integration. Joseph leads a dedicated team of individuals supporting tools to ensure administrative systems and processes are optimized to meet UI Health Care's needs. As part of the IT senior management team, he participates in both long-range and short-term strategic planning for the IT department and enterprise as a whole.

Prior to joining UI Health Care in 2003, Joseph was a Project Manager at Spectrum Health in Western Michigan. In his role, he lead the implementation of revenue cycle systems across the Spectrum Health network of hospitals. Prior to that he held positions at Detroit Medical Center, Trinity Health and Mercy General Health Partners.

Joseph earned his Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from The University of Iowa in 1993 and his Masters of Arts in Hospital and Health Administration and Masters of Business Administration from The University of Iowa in 1995. He currently lives in North Liberty, IA with his wife and three children



Lorna Waggoner, Program Chair
Lorna has been the chapters Program Chair since 2006 and is Co-Chairing the Midwest Technical Conference in Des Moines in 2012. She has been the Director of Business Development for ecfirst, Home of the HIPAA Academy for the past 7 years although she has worked with the organization since 2001. Her responsibilities include working with Covered Entities and Business Associates doing business with healthcare, throughout the United States and Puerto Rico in a consulting capacity to provide them with compliance services around HIPAA, ISO, FISMA and other security regulations. She has taught a Two-day HIPAA Certification course since 2001; delivering training material to both public and private class attendees ; such as University of Utah, Microsoft, Cerner, Ascension Health, Kaiser Permanente, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, The Veterans Administration, SmartHealth, The Longstreet Group, Hewlett Packard, McKesson, The Iowa Hospital Association, State of Iowa, State of Oregon, GHX, Health Alliance, Flex Benefits and many more.

Prior to her position at ecfirst Lorna and her husband Paul owned ExecuTrain; a computer training franchise for 4 years. Prior to that she was in Telecommunications for 14 years overseeing sales and operations in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Illinois. After several mergers and acquisitions the organization became LDDS WorldCom and finally MCI.

Lorna is originally from Dayton, Ohio where she attended Sinclair College while raising a family.

Tracy Donner, HIE Liason Chair
Tracy is the IT Project Manager for the Iowa Department of Public Health’s (IDPH) Office of Health Information Technology (Iowa e-Health). Tracy joined the Department of Public Health in July 2007. Before joining the Iowa e-Health team in March 2010, Tracy was a project manager and business analyst at IDPH for the Iowa Disease Surveillance System (IDSS), Health Alert Network (HAN), Hospital Bed Capacity System (IPHACTS) and Health Volunteer Registration System (ISERV).

Prior to her work with the IDPH Tracy worked for the State of Nebraska in the Department of Health and Human Services. She held various IT roles there including working with a statewide telehealth initiative while acting as the Health Alert Network Coordinator. Tracy holds a Bachelor of Arts from Doane College in Public Administration and Human Relations.

Stephen Stewart is the Chief Information Officer at Henry County Health Center. At the hospital he also services as the Compliance Officer, as well as the Security Officer. Stephen is the currently serving as President of Iowa HIMSS as well.


Adam Frederick, Communications Chair
Adam Frederick is currently an IT Project Manager at Iowa Health System. Adam has 8 years of healthcare IT experience focused mainly on the implementation and integration of Electronic Health Records (EHR) in both the acute care and ambulatory settings.

Previous experience includes various EHR implementation roles at Adventist Health System and Cerner Corporation.

Adam holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems and Marketing from Iowa State University. He is also a member of the Project Management Institute and holds a Project Management Professional credential.



Tammy Flick, Scholarship Chair
Tammy Flick works with the Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center at the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care. She has worked in a hospital setting for 17 years, most recently as the Director of Clinical Informatics for Boone County Hospital for the last four years. Prior to that she worked in the E.R. and ICCU as a R.N. and has also worked in the cancer registry. Tammy is an RN and holds a Bachelors Degree from ISU in Community Health Education and a Master’s certificate in Informatics.



Sara J Barkley, Membership Chair

Sara Barkley joined Iowa Health Des Moines in 2005 as the Clinical IT Coordinator. Her past experience was in staff development, manager in an ambulatory care setting, home health care, emergency services and med/surgical nursing at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Graduate of Mount Mercy College, Cedar Rapids with a bachelor’s in nursing.

Joy is an Electronic Health Records Specialist at Trimark Physicians Group, an affiliate of Iowa Health Systems. She is completing her bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management and Computer Information Systems at the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth Minnesota. After graduation, she plans to further her education by achieving dual master’s degrees in Health Information Management and Information Technology Leadership. In her position with Trimark Physicians Group, Joy specializes in HIPAA Compliance Auditing, Project Management, Voice Recognition Software, Education, Quality Improvement, Analytics, Problem Identification
